Recap: West Cowboys vs. Eastmoor Academy Warriors
The West Cowboys scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They managed a 64-60 victory over Eastmoor Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, Eastmoor Academy still got an impressive performance from James Nowell, who scored 18 points. The match was Nowell's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephon Simpkins, who scored 15 points.
Even though they lost, Eastmoor Academy were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
West's win ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-3. As for Eastmoor Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Groveport-Madison at 7:00 p.m. on December 20th. Groveport-Madison presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than West in Ohio (Groveport-Madison is ranked 201st, while West is ranked 456th). Eastmoor Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Mansfield Senior at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Mansfield Senior focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Saturday.
