Soccer Recap: Helena Comes Up Short

Helena fell victim to Vestavia Hills and their airtight defense on Saturday. They came up short against the Vestavia Hills Rebels, falling 6-0. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Rebels are ranked fourth).

Helena has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those four matchups. The win (which was Vestavia Hills' fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Helena will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Bessemer City at 5:30 p.m. on March 11th. As for Vestavia Hills, they wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next contest, an 8-0 victory against Foley on the 1st.
