Bishop Feehan is a perfect 4-0 against Cardinal Spellman since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Shamrocks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bishop Feehan has four straight victories, Cardinal Spellman has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Bishop Feehan came out on top against Arlington Catholic on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fourth inning. The Shamrocks took their match against the Cougars 5-1.
Jack Gasse spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Andrew Shute, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jake Webster was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Bishop Feehan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Cardinal Spellman faced off against Arlington Catholic on Thursday. The Cardinals came up short against the Cougars, falling 13-1.
Cardinal Spellman saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Thorton, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double. That double marked the first that Thorton has hit this season.
Bishop Feehan's win bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Cardinal Spellman, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.
Cardinal Spellman's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bishop Feehan hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. It's a different story for Cardinal Spellman, though, as they've only averaged .232. Will they be able to contain Bishop Feehan's hitters?
Bishop Feehan skirted past Cardinal Spellman 4-3 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Shamrocks repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
