Two dominant signal callers in Keaton Johnson and Bryce Duron are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The College Station Cougars will face off against the Angleton Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Angleton will be up against a hot College Station squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. The Cougars came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 35-31 W against Weiss.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Johnson and Jaxon Schad. Johnson had a great game two weeks ago and rushed for 172 yards and one score. Meanwhile, Schad was balling out in the loss, throwing for 427 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 71.1% of his passes, and also rushing for 37 yards and two touchdowns.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to College Station's defensive line and their five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Wade Couch and Zahron Benford, who racked up four sacks between them. Benford has become a key player for College Station: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two sacks, but 3-4 otherwise. Couch got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Angleton took on Crosby on Friday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 31-7 win. Considering the Wildcats have won nine games by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
College Station better keep an eye on Jayden Moore. He was instrumental in Angleton's win, rushing for 75 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries. Moore's longest rush was for an impressive 52 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.
Angleton's run defense was locked in: Crosby could only muster 1.7 yards per carry. The team can thank Wallace Thornley for the heroic effort on defense: he. Angleton didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.8.
College Station's record now sits at 6-4. As for Angleton, their record is now 9-1.
College Station and Angleton were almost perfectly matched up in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, but College Station suffered an agonizing 35-34 loss. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
