Basketball Game Preview: Robertson Cardinals vs. Taos Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Robertson Cardinals challenge the Taos Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday... Robertson has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 203 points over their last three matches.

Last Monday, Robertson was able to grind out a solid victory over Valencia, taking the game 70-57.

Robertson relied on the efforts of Jesse James Gonzales, who went 9 for 12 on his way to 27 points and five assists, and George Smith, who posted 20 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. The dominant performance gave Gonzales a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Marr, who had seven points.

Taos' found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Grants on Friday. Taos took down Bloomfield 59-43.

Taos' win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Robertson, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Robertson was able to grind out a solid win over Taos in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 60-49. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Taos' Lionel Salazar, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
