Baseball Recap: Parkersburg Triumphs

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Parkersburg and Riverside, and Parkersburg kept the tradition alive. The Big Reds walked away with an 11-7 win over the Warriors on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Big Reds: when they faced off against the Warriors back in March, they had to take a 11-1 loss.

Cooper Cancade was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Parker Woods was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Parkersburg has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Riverside, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Parkersburg will venture away from home to take on Varsity Opponent at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Riverside, they will head out to challenge South Charleston at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
