Volleyball Recap: Coronado Takes Down Ranked Durango

Coronado faced Durango in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Cougars put the hurt on the Trailblazers with a sharp 3-0 win. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Trailblazers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Coronado took every set by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-14, 25-15.

RACHEL PURSER paced Coronado's offense, picking up 14 kills. PURSER got some help from TRU HALVORSEN and her 27 assists. Finally, PURSER was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Coronado's win bumped their record up to 19-7. As for Durango, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.

After both having extra time off, Coronado and Foothill will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Durango, they will head out on the road to face off against Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
