Basketball Game Preview: Memorial Red Devils vs. Jackson-Milton Bluejays

The Memorial Red Devils and the Jackson-Milton Bluejays will round out the year against one another at at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Memorial has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Memorial is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their contest on Monday with ease, bagging a 97-62 victory over Badger. The Red Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 20 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Josue Rodriguez, who dropped a double-double on 45 points and 11 rebounds. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Teyon Harris Jr. was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 21 rebounds.

Memorial smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Jackson-Milton, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 56-55 win over Waterloo.

Memorial's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Jackson-Milton, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.

Everything came up roses for Memorial against Jackson-Milton when the teams last played back in December of 2021, as the squad secured an 80-32 victory. In that matchup, Memorial amassed a halftime lead of 40-17, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
