Football Game Preview: Maui Sabers vs. Baldwin Bears + How To Watch

The Maui Sabers will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Baldwin Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Maui has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since August 9.

Maui is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Lahainaluna on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Sabers were dealt a 35-7 defeat at the hands of the Lunas. The Sabers were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.

Meanwhile, Baldwin earned a 28-16 victory over King Kekaulike on Saturday.

Maui better keep an eye on Jorden Carbonell. He was instrumental in Baldwin's win, throwing for 132 yards and two TDs, while also rushing for 37 yards and one score.

Baldwin has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.3 points over those games. As for Maui, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.

Maui might still be hurting after the 35-14 defeat they got from Baldwin in their previous meeting back in September. Can the Sabers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
