Preview: Apollo Hawks vs. Paradise Valley Trojans
Apollo is 0-5 against Paradise Valley since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Apollo Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Paradise Valley Trojans at 5:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Apollo suffered their biggest loss since December 14, 2023 on Tuesday. They suffered a tough 61-40 loss at the hands of Centennial. Apollo has not had much luck with Centennial recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Paradise Valley won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Sunrise Mountain on the road and fell 61-32.
Despite the defeat, Paradise Valley had strong showings from Neha Patel, who scored 14 points along with two blocks, and Kaitlyn Jimmy, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Paradise Valley struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Apollo has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Paradise Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.
Apollo came up short against Paradise Valley when the teams last played back in November of 2023, falling 41-35. Can Apollo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
