Basketball Game Preview: East Duplin Panthers vs. Rosewood Eagles

The East Duplin Panthers just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Rosewood Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

East Duplin is headed into Wednesday's contest hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They had to suffer through a 78-32 loss at the hands of Kinston. The game marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, Rosewood lost to Spring Creek at home by a 66-48 margin on Friday.

East Duplin will need focus on slowing down Bryson Hobbs, one of several Rosewood players who made an impact when they last played. He dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Hobbs' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Tielen Mccrae was another key player, going 5 for 9 on his way to 12 points.

Even though they lost, Rosewood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spring Creek only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.

Rosewood has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for East Duplin, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-3.

East Duplin ended up a good deal behind Rosewood when the teams last played back in December of 2023, losing 55-40. Can East Duplin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
