Recap: Buckeye Hawks vs. Apollo Hawks

The Buckeye Hawks pushed their score all the way to 70 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Apollo at home by a decisive 86-70 margin. If Buckeye hoped to take revenge for the 75-62 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.

Despite the loss, Buckeye still got an impressive performance from Isaiah Leyva, who scored 26 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Leyva has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Zachary Bennett, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Apollo found their leader in underclassman Elijah White, who scored 21 points along with nine steals and seven assists. White continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of DeQuean Bryant, who scored 21 points along with three steals.

Buckeye has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Apollo, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.

Buckeye will head out on the road to challenge Youngker at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Youngker is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.1 points per game. As for Apollo, they will be playing at home against Willow Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Willow Canyon's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
