Basketball Game Preview: Arrupe Jesuit Generals vs. The Academy Wildcats

Arrupe Jesuit hasn't had much luck against The Academy recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Arrupe Jesuit Generals will square off against The Academy Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Arrupe Jesuit is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.8 points per game this season.

Arrupe Jesuit is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They took a blow against Fort Lupton, falling 87-46. While losing is never fun, the Generals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 204th, while the Bluedevils are ranked 65th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Yahir Pizarro, who went 5-for-8 on his way to 14 points. Those 14 points gave him a new career-high. Mario Cabrera was another key player, putting up nine points and six assists.

Meanwhile, The Academy narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Stargate School 63-61. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

The Academy's win came from a few key players Arrupe Jesuit will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Dominik Konarski, who went 9-for-15 to rack up 19 points. Another player making a difference was Trey Boychuk, who went 7-for-16 en route to 19 points and eight boards.

The Academy's victory bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Arrupe Jesuit, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Arrupe Jesuit has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 31.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like The Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Arrupe Jesuit might still be hurting after the 66-46 loss they got from The Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2022. Thankfully for Arrupe Jesuit, Kacper Konarski (who went 5-for-8 on his way to 20 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists) won't be suiting up this time.
