Preview: Cypress Ranch Mustangs vs. Cypress Falls Eagles
Cypress Ranch is 6-1 against Cypress Falls since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Cypress Ranch Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Cypress Falls Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Cypress Ranch can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent contest on Saturday. Everything went their way against Langham Creek as Cypress Ranch made off with a 56-35 victory. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Meanwhile, Cypress Falls had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 28-17 victory over Cypress Park. Cypress Falls pushed the score to 28-3 by the end of the third, a deficit Cypress Park cut but never quite recovered from.
Kye Callicoattee was the offensive standout of the game as he threw for 190 yards and three touchdowns. Ajani Cargile did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 108 receiving yards.
Cypress Falls' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Romeo Johnson and his two sacks.
The victory makes it two in a row for Cypress Ranch and bumps their season record up to 6-3. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31.5 points. As for Cypress Falls, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
Cypress Ranch came up short against Cypress Falls in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, falling 34-27. Can Cypress Ranch avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
