League recap: Hurricane rolls against Canyon View

3A Region 9 recap Oct. 23, 2012

Hurricane took down Canyon View 51-12 last week, the largest margin of any game.

The Tigers led 3A Region 9 in scoring this week after putting up 51 points on the Falcons.

Pine View's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kody Wilstead threw for 155 and two touchdowns and Tristan Duran had 36 yards receiving. On the ground Prentiss Miller chipped in 171 yards. Colton Miller helped Pine View's passing attack out by catching two balls for 33 yards.

Dixie's Blake Barney and Drew Batchelor have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Barney has thrown for 2149 yards this season, while Batchelor, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 35 catches for 647 yards. The Panthers' Miller leads the league in rushing yards with 1974.

Canyon View made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,382 from 10,599. The improvement came about via a 51-12 victory over Alex Huxford's team last week.
