Softball Game Preview: Maine South Hawks vs. Niles West Wolves

The Maine South Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Niles West Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Maine South blew Maine West out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Saturday Maine West got their revenge. The Hawks fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 2-0.

Meanwhile, Niles West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Antioch. The match marked the Wolves' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Niles West saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Hester, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Maine South's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Niles West, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.

Maine South came out on top in a nail-biter against Niles West in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, sneaking past 4-3. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
