Basketball Game Preview: Windham Whippets vs. Coventry Patriots

The Windham Whippets will face off against the Coventry Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Windham will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

While Windham didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Bacon Academy by a score of 64-55 on Friday.

Malcolm Hunter continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 8 for 14 en route to 19 points in addition to five assists and three steals. His evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Anden Gonzalez, who posted 18 points.

Windham smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Coventry was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on January 3rd as they fell 58-53 to Rockville.

Windham's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Coventry, they now have a losing record at 0-1.
