No. 1 St. John Bosco hosts undefeated JSerra Catholic as Trinity League play begins.

The toughest league in high school football — The Trinity League, the SEC of prep football — begins this week. The No. 1 team in the country, St John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.), faces a very talented JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) squad in our featured matchup of the week.

No. 4 St. John's (Washington, D.C.) looks to keep building its resume and takes on Christian Brothers (St. Louis), the top-ranked team from Missouri. Both teams bring in winning streaks, the Cadets have won 11 straight and the St. Louis power has won 17 in a row.

New Jersey powers DePaul Catholic (Wayne, N.J.) and St. Peter's Prep (Jersey City, N.J.) face off in a Garden State showdown.



A couple of big-time Louisiana showdowns are going down this week. The first team outside of the Top 25, University Lab, faces Zachary and two undefeated squads face off — John Curtis Christian and Easton.

No. 23 Chandler (Ariz.) takes on Perry (Gilbert, Ariz.) in a huge in-state 6A matchup. Both teams have won five straight since dropping their season openers.

Two teams from the Sunshine State bring in perfect records when Columbia (Lake City, Fla.) and Trinity Christian Academy (Jacksonville, Fla.) lock horns. The Lone Star State is also featured this week when St. Pius X (Houston) and Prestonwood Christian (Plano, Texas) face off in a matchup of undefeated teams.

The final two contests feature the Aloha State and California. Two of Hawaii's best teams square off when Kahuku takes on Mililani and the other SoCal matchup features Mycah Pittman and Calabasas taking on De'Gabriel Floyd and Westlake. MaxPreps Top 10 Games of the Week

JSerra is one of the better SoCal teams around, but you could make a strong case St. John Bosco is the most well-rounded squad in the country. The Braves are winning by an average margin of 44.6 points per game but there schedule is about to get tougher with Trinity League action starting. This will be the 13th meeting between the two schools since 2006 and St. John Bosco has not lost.

St. John's isn't running from smoke in 2018. The Cadets have one of the toughest non-league schedules in the country and things don't get any easier this week. The D.C. power needed 21 unanswered points last week to knock off Marietta (Ga.), 21-14. Jarrett, one of the top wide receivers from the Class of 2020, has been putting on a clinic during his junior campaign. The St. Louis power has been lighting up the scoreboard in 2018. They have scored at least 49 points in all five games. Gabbert, the younger brother of the Tennessee Titans Blaine Gabbert, has emerged as one of the best quarterbacks in the Midwest.

St. Peter's Prep is a win or two away from jumping into the Top 25 and the Marauders face one the best teams from Jersey on Saturday. DePaul Catholic is loaded with talent and it all starts with 2019 Penn State commit Roberson and 2019 Ohio State commit Hickman. The Marauders only loss came against Philadelphia power St. Joseph's Prep and they are looking to improve to 4-0 against in-state opponents.

One of the top teams from Louisiana will suffer its first loss of the season when these two face off. John Curtis enters this one 4-0 with a win over a Texas team and has outscored the three in-state opponents 108-34. Warren Easton has started 3-0 and look for its biggest win of the season on Thursday. Last year, John Curtis pulled out a 27-21 win in the first-ever meeting between the two schools

University Lab is the first team out of the Top 25 and is next in line to jump in the rankings ... but up first is the Broncos, whose only loss came to Catholic (Baton Rouge) by one point. The Cubs faced that same team two weeks ago and cruised to a 41-21 victory. The defending D2 state champs have won 18 straight games and with the talent they have this year there is a good chance they run the table again this season.

Both teams have been rolling since dropping their season openers. The back-to-back 6A state champs, Chandler, have reeled off five straight and have won 16 of its last 17 games. Two of those wins have come against Perry, including a 49-42 victory in the 2017 state title game. The Wolves have dominated the series between these two since 2013, they have won all seven matchups. Another Purdy is up at quarterback for Perry and the 2020 gunslinger has been putting up big-time numbers during his junior campaign. Chandler's defense will be even better now too with former Mountain Pointe (Phoenix) 4-star defensive tackle Pola-Mao making his 2018 debut.

Two of the hottest teams from the Sunshine State face off in a matchup of 5-0 squads. Columbia turned heads during the preseason when they beat No. 6 IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.). The Tigers have one of the most explosive offenses in Florida led by a big-time duo at wide receiver, Jones and Bell. Trinity Christian Academy has one of the best secondaries in the country. Davis, a 5-star defensive back, checks in as the No. 1-rated player in the state among all juniors and Brooks is one of the top rated corners from 2020 too.

There will be a lot of talent on the field Friday night. St. Pius X has one of the most explosive offenses in the state, and Gunnell is on pace to eclipse the state record for career passing yards and passing touchdowns. His top three receivers — Curry, Lane, and Ducros — will all be playing on Saturdays for Power 5 schools. Prestonwood Christian has a bunch of playmakers led by 2019 Oklahoma commit Austin Stogner, the No. 2 rated tight end on 247sports player composite rankings.

Mililani (Hawaii) @ Kahuku (Hawaii)

Two of the Aloha State's best teams face off on Saturday night. Gabriel, a 2019 Army commit, enters this one as the all-time passing leader in Hawaii history. He surpassed Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa in last week's 35-0 win over Wai'anae . He has thrown for 2,110 yards and 21 touchdowns through six games in 2018. He faces a big-time defense this week. The Red Raiders are loaded on defense led by 2019 Washington commit Ah You.



Calabasas (Calif.) @ Westlake (Westlake Village, Calif.)

Westlake had its five game winning streak snapped last week against Grace Brethren (Simi Valley) and looks to bounce back against a very talented Calabasas squad on Friday. The Coyotes trio of wide receivers are as good as anyone in the country with Pittman, Wilson and Burton. The Warriors' Floyd, a 2019 Texas commit, is one of the best all-around players in high school football.
