Basketball Recap: Ware Shoals Piles Up the Points Against Whitmire

Ware Shoals can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They blew past the Whitmire Wolverines, posting a 74-44 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 82-45 back in January.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ware Shoals to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jayce Medlin, who posted 14 points along with six assists and four steals. Another player making a difference was Charles Callaham, who had 19 points and six boards.

Despite the defeat, Whitmire had strong showings from Kayshaun Schumpert, who went 6 for 10 en route to 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists, and Braylen Sartor, who scored 11 points and seven boards.

Ware Shoals' win bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Whitmire, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-19 record this season.

Ware Shoals won't have much time to rest: their next match is against GREEN Upstate at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ware Shoals knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully GREEN Upstate likes a good challenge. Whitmire has already played their next game (against Thornwell), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
