Softball Game Preview: Robertson Cardinals vs. Dexter Demons

The Robertson Cardinals are taking a road trip to square off against the Dexter Demons at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Robertson comes in on three and Dexter on five.

Robertson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They skirted past St. Michael's 7-5.

Ariana Sanchez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jayden Ortega was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Griego, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Dexter got the win against Tularosa on Wednesday by a conclusive 12-2. The Demons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 games by ten runs or more this season.

Dexter also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Kaylonie Nevarez gave up just two earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hannah Sanders, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Melody Duran was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Dexter pushed their record up to 24-2 with the win, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Robertson, the win got them back to even at 13-13.
