Baseball Game Preview: Meigs County Tigers vs. Chattanooga Central Pounders

Meigs County is 0-4 against Chattanooga Central since May of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Tigers will square off against the Pounders at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Meigs County has three straight victories, Chattanooga Central has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Meigs County barely beat Concord Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers blew past the Lions 13-3 on Friday. Considering the Tigers have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Chattanooga Central lost 17-1 to Soddy Daisy on Wednesday.

Chattanooga Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Treshaun Gearing, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. The Pounders are 2-1 when Gearing posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-10 otherwise.

Chattanooga Central's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Meigs County, their win bumped their record up to 13-3.

Meigs County couldn't quite finish off Chattanooga Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 7-5. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
