With a playoff win on the line, Latin rose to the challenge  on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by  a  17-4 margin over the Lisle Lions. The result was nothing new for the Romans, who have now won 12 matchups by seven  runs or more  so far this season.
  Karim Patterson and  Liam Calvert did most of the damage at the plate:  Patterson  got on base  in four of his five plate appearances with one  home run, two  stolen bases,  and three  runs, while  Calvert  got on base  in three of his four plate appearances with one  home run, five  RBI,  and two  runs. That's the most  runs  Patterson has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was  Gavin Addison, who  went 1-for-3 with three  runs and two  RBI.
Latin has  been performing  well recently as they've  won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record  this season. The  wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Lisle,  the  loss snapped their winning streak at three games  and leaves them with a 5-25-1 record.
 Coming up, Latin will take on Chicago Hope Academy at 11:00  a.m.  on Saturday. Latin's pitchers better be ready for this one: Chicago Hope Academy has averaged an impressive 6.1  runs per game this season. Lisle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
