The Mitchell Mustangs will square off against the East Lake Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Mitchell comes in on seven and East Lake on eight.
Mitchell is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Largo as they made off with a 10-2 win. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by six runs or more this season.

Taylor Tucker made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madyson Whitaker, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since April 1st. The team also got some help courtesy of Taryn Newton, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Mitchell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .515. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but East Lake ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Palm Harbor University, sneaking past 5-4.
Lucy Mondok spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Ali Sheffield was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Abigail Mitchell was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
East Lake pushed their record up to 19-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games. As for Mitchell, their victory bumped their record up to 21-5.
Mitchell might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from East Lake in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
