Football Game Preview: Washington Eagles vs. Balboa Buccaneers

Washington hasn't had much luck against Balboa recently, but that could start to change on the 27th. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 11:00 a.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Washington sitting on five straight wins and Balboa on seven.

Washington is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They came out on top against Lincoln by a score of 42-35.

Roy Mertz was a one-man wrecking crew as he threw for 311 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 61 yards. Those 61 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Henry Sanchez-Tapia was in the mix too, providing Washington with two touchdowns.

Washington didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Xavier Masoli and Quentin Nu?ez. Nu?ez also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 12. Masoli got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Balboa never let their opponents score on Saturday. They really took it to Mission for the full four quarters, racking up a 45-0 victory. The Buccaneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by 36 points or more this season.

Washington better keep an eye on Rylen Thien-Jones. He was instrumental in Balboa's win, throwing for 119 yards and a pair of TDs.

Washington's record is now 8-3. As for Balboa, their record now sits at 9-2.

Washington took a serious blow against Balboa in their previous meeting back in October, falling 54-6. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Eagles were down 28-0.
