Baseball Game Preview: Saint Andrew's Scots vs. Spanish River Sharks

The Saint Andrew's Scots will venture away from home to take on the Spanish River Sharks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Saint Andrew's will be strutting in after a win while Spanish River will be coming in after a loss.

Saint Andrew's had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Santaluces on Wednesday. Saint Andrew's pitchers stepped up to hand Santaluces a 10-0 shutout. The victory was nothing new for the Scots as they're now sitting on three straight.

Chase Lambalot looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Connor Berman, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Luccas Mendez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Saint Andrew's was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Santaluces only posted a batting average of .238.

Meanwhile, Spanish River suffered their biggest defeat since April 2, 2024 on Thursday. They lost 14-3 to Park Vista. The Sharks' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Spanish River saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jesse Chimenti, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. That's the most stolen bases Chimenti has posted since back in April of 2024.

Saint Andrew's now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Spanish River, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.

Saint Andrew's suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to Spanish River in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can Saint Andrew's avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
