Football Recap: Ascension Christian Falls to Willow in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Ascension Christian unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Willow Lions on Friday, falling 48-8. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it six in a row.

Leading Willow to victory were Kaiden Thomas and Darryl Franklin. Thomas threw for 285 yards and three TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes, while Franklin gained 89 total yards and two touchdowns. What's more, Franklin racked up 22 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Willow also got help from Mark Rhodes Jr., who showed off his sure hands for 87 receiving yards.

Coming up, Ascension Christian will head out on the road to face off against Central Private at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Willow, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Metairie Park Country Day at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
