Basketball Game Preview: Madison County Mountaineers vs. Page County Panthers

The Madison County Mountaineers will face off against the Page County Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Madison County turned things around against Rappahannock County on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Rappahannock County, sneaking past 48-45. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mountaineers have posted against Rappahannock County since January 20, 2021.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Page County). They walked away with a 73-65 win over Luray on Wednesday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Panthers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 103rd).

Page County has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points per game. As for Madison County, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-11.
