Basketball Recap: Washington Leadership Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Zyahir Mack and Amari Clarke

Washington Leadership Academy was the 60-46 winner over E.L. Haynes when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. Washington Leadership Academy received a blow on Thursday as they fell 56-42 to E.L. Haynes. Washington Leadership Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Washington Leadership Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Amari Clarke and Zyahir Mack. Clarke posted 14 points, while Mack had 13 points. Another player making a difference was Amant'E Taylor, who earned seven points.

E.L. Haynes' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elyan Beatriz led the charge by putting up 17 points. The dominant performance gave Beatriz a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jekhi Hatcher, who put up 17 points.

Washington Leadership Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for E.L. Haynes, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-7.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Richard Wright Public Charter School the next time they take the court. Washington Leadership Academy will host Richard Wright Public Charter School at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025, while E.L. Haynes will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
