Softball Recap: Jourdanton Picks Up Ninth Consecutive Victory

Jourdanton proved they can win big on Monday (they won by eight) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Holy Cross Knights 3-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Indians/Squaws, who have now won nine matchups in a row.

Hailey Sralik made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bobbiejo Gonzales, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one double. Another player making a difference was Savannah Schuchart, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Jourdanton pushed their record up to 16-12 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Holy Cross, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 22-6-1 record.

Coming up, Jourdanton will be playing at home against Devine at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Warhorses' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Indians/Squaws' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Holy Cross does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
