Softball Game Preview: Cambridge N/A vs. Saratoga Central Catholic Saints

The Cambridge N/A will venture away from home to square off against the Saratoga Central Catholic Saints at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Cambridge took a 13-run defeat the last time they faced off against Hoosic Valley, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The N/A sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Hawks on Monday.

Meanwhile, Saratoga Central Catholic waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Huskies/Dragons as they made off with a 15-1 victory. The game marked the Saints' most dominant win of the season so far.

Paige Jaffe made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Saratoga Central Catholic got a big performance out of Sophia Ryan, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance also gave Ryan a new career-high in RBI (three). Paige Bujno was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2.

Saratoga Central Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive matches.

The victory got Cambridge back to even at 1-1. As for Saratoga Central Catholic, their record now sits at 3-1.

Cambridge couldn't quite get it done against Saratoga Central Catholic when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 13-8. Can the N/A avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
