Cypress Lakes skates past Cypress Woods with ease

In what's become a running theme this season, the Cypress Lakes Spartans gave their fans yet another huge win on Saturday. They blew past Cypress Woods 61-34 at home. Given Cypress Lakes' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while Cypress Woods is ranked 568th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cypress Lakes' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aniah Alexis, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. That makes it 20 consecutive games in which Alexis has scored at least a third of Cypress Lakes' points. Another player making a difference was Makennah Alexis, who scored 15 points along with four steals.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jasmine Lee, who scored 11 points. Giada Brou was another key contributor, scoring four points along with two blocks.

Cypress Lakes pushed their record up to 18-9 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Cypress Woods, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 14 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-18 record this season.

Cypress Lakes will take on Cypress Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cypress Springs will be looking to extend their current 20-game winning streak. As for Cypress Woods, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Langham Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Langham Creek's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups.
