Basketball Game Preview: Randolph Cardinals vs. Homer Knights

The Randolph Cardinals are taking a road trip to challenge the Homer Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Homer took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Randolph, who comes in off a win.

Randolph is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 68-34 win over Niobrara/Verdigre. The Cardinals pushed the score to 52-25 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cougars had little chance of recovering from.

Meanwhile, Homer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were dealt a 70-31 loss at the hands of Pender. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 257th, while the Pendragons are ranked 31st).

Randolph is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.7 points per game. As for Homer, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Things could have been worse for Randolph, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 38-24 loss to Homer in their previous meeting back in January of 2022. Can Randolph avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
