Recap: Penn Cambria Panthers vs. Chestnut Ridge Lions

The Penn Cambria Panthers pushed their score all the way to 58 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 70-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chestnut Ridge. While losing is never fun, Penn Cambria can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 310th, while Chestnut Ridge is ranked 60th).

Penn Cambria's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caden Gibbons, who scored 16 points. That's the first time this season that Gibbons scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Harrold, who scored 13 points along with seven assists.

Penn Cambria has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Chestnut Ridge, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Penn Cambria will head out on the road to face off against Forest Hills at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Forest Hills' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches. As for Chestnut Ridge, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Bishop McCort at 7:15 p.m.
