Basketball Recap: Monticello Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Monticello can now relate to. They were beaten by the Rich Rebels 52-16 on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Buckaroo of the 53-12 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Braylyn Pugmire continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Rich, almost dropping a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. Pugmire is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Cassandra Argyle, who posted eight points and three steals.

Monticello has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season. The victory was the eighth in a row for Rich, bringing their record for this year to 22-2.
