Basketball Recap: Brookstone Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Caroline Peak and Julie Anne Pyle

After flying high against Kendrick on Monday, Brookstone came back down to earth. The Cougars took a 49-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spencer Greenwave on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 55-38 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2024.

Brookstone's loss came despite strong showings from Julie Anne Pyle and Caroline Peak. Pyle posted 14 points, while Peak earned 12 points.

Spencer's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nadra Rosser, who put up seven points in addition to seven steals and six boards. Rosser is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Shamani Lewis was another key player, putting up 11 points along with six steals and five rebounds.

Brookstone's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Spencer, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1.

Brookstone has already played their next game, a 43-38 defeat against Mount de Sales Academy on the 24th. As for Spencer, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 41-30 victory against Veterans on the 22nd.
