Football Recap: Sylmar Spartans vs. Huntington Park Spartans
Sylmar couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 34-14 to the Huntington Park Spartans on Thursday. Sylmar was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Huntington Park apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Sylmar lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jacob Mcdonald. Despite the final result, he threw for 117 yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 59 yards.
Huntington Park had a senior duo take command as Christopher Wooley rushed for 150 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries and Noah Mancillas rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sylmar will take on Marshall at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Huntington Park, they will head out to square off against Westchester at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
