Football Game Preview: Lackawanna Trail Lions vs. Carbondale Area Chargers

Lackawanna Trail has gone a perfect 9-0 against Carbondale Area recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Lions will take on the Chargers at 7:00 p.m. Lackawanna Trail is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

On Sunday, Lackawanna Trail didn't have too much trouble with Old Forge as they won 38-20. The Lions pushed the score to 38-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Blue Devils cut but never quite recovered from.

Isaac Ryon was his usual excellent self, rushing for 96 yards and two TDs on only nine carries, while also picking up 58 receiving yards and one touchdown. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Carter Edwards was another key back, rushing for 100 yards and one score on only 13 carries.

Meanwhile, Carbondale Area got themselves on the board against Montrose on Friday, but Montrose never followed suit. They breezed past the Meteors to the tune of 40-0. Considering the Chargers have won four contests by more than 29 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Lackawanna Trail's record is now 5-1. As for Carbondale Area, their record now sits at 4-2.

Everything came up roses for Lackawanna Trail against Carbondale Area in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 39-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
