Recap: Cleburne County Tigers vs. Jacksonville Golden Eagles

The Cleburne County Tigers suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. They were the victim of a tough 70-44 defeat at the hands of Jacksonville. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cleburne County in their matchups with Jacksonville: they've now lost four in a row.

Aaron Nixon continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Jacksonville, going 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 1 assist. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nixon has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Imoree Young, who scored 15 points.

Cleburne County bumped their record down to 11-9 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Jacksonville, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cleburne County on the road again on Monday and play against Woodland at 7:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Woodland has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 28. As for Jacksonville, they will head out on the road to challenge White Plains at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as White Plains comes in on five and Jacksonville on nine.
