Basketball Recap: Newberg's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Newberg lost against McMinnville back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Newberg Tigers took a 51-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the McMinnville Grizzlies. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 22nd).

Newberg's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6. As for McMinnville, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-5.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Newberg Tigers take on the Century Jaguars at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Century will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Newberg surely won't give up without a fight. As for McMinnville, they will face off against Forest Grove at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Forest Grove has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
