Ansonia (Conn.) received a huge boost from its defense against Crosby (Waterbury, Conn.), as the unit scored 12 in defeating Crosby (Waterbury, Conn.), 61-20.
After taking the lead on a
Arkeel Newsome touchdown run in the first quarter, the Chargers led 55-12 at the half.
Ansonia expanded its lead to 49 points entering the fourth quarter. AHS's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown pass by
Thomas Majchrzak to
Angel Falero.
Newsome and
Saiheed Sanders ran for a bunch of touchdowns for the Bulldogs. Newsome scored two touchdowns on the ground and Sanders added two as well.
Roshawn Gainey made a difference for Crosby. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to seven on the year.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 42-6 win for the Chargers.
In a Naugatuck Valley - Brass game next week Crosby (1-6) takes on Wilby, and Ansonia (7-0) will go up against Wolcott also in a Naugatuck Valley - Brass game.
