Basketball Game Preview: Providence Day Chargers vs. Cannon Cougars

Providence Day is on a 12-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Cannon is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Providence Day Chargers will host the Cannon Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Providence Day knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 14 matches -- so hopefully Cannon likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Providence Day didn't have too much trouble with Charlotte Country Day School as they won 74-56. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Buccaneers are ranked 68th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Cannon ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They walked away with a 74-63 victory over Charlotte Country Day School.

Providence Day is also on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Cannon, their win bumped their record up to 12-10.

Everything came up roses for Providence Day against Cannon in their previous matchup on January 14th, as the team secured a 103-72 victory. Does Providence Day have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cannon turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
