Volleyball Game Preview: Lyons Lions vs. Beloit Trojans

The Lyons Lions will face off against the Beloit Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lyons took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They came out on top against Eureka by a score of 2-0. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Tornadoes: they've now won three in a row.

While Lyons might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Eureka scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-18.

Meanwhile, Beloit narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Ellsworth 2-1.

Beloit had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-22, 25-22.

Beloit found their leader in sophomore Colbi Stroede, who had 21 assists.

Beloit's win bumped their record up to 23-8. As for Lyons, their victory bumped their record up to 3-22-3.

Lyons couldn't quite get it done against Beloit in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
