Football Recap: Seymour Comes Up Short at Home Against Greenwood

Seymour unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Greenwood Woodmen on Friday, falling 38-8. The Owls were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Woodmen apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Max Coates threw for 65 yards on eight of 16 attempts. Jackson Fox was his top target, picking up 37 receiving yards. On the ground, Everett Jackson rushed for 74 yards on only five carries.

Greenwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Benjamin Hommell, who picked up 98 receiving yards and one touchdown. That's the most receiving yards Hommell has posted since back in September of 2024. Orlando Johnson got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Seymour has already played their next contest, a 20-6 defeat against Jeffersonville on the 29th. As for Greenwood, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 29-10 loss against Indian Creek on the 29th.
