Softball Recap: West Iredell's Win Ends Seven-Game Losing Streak at Home

West Iredell got themselves on the board against Statesville on Friday, but Statesville never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 25-0 margin over the Greyhounds. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 28-1 last Tuesday.

Taylor Stikeleather was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That hit marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Mattie Blankenship was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alexis Hatcher, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

West Iredell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive matches.

West Iredell's win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4. As for Statesville, they are on a 23-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

West Iredell didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-0 defeat against North Lincoln on the 1st. As for Statesville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 16-1 loss against St. Stephens on the 1st.
