Preview: Brentwood School Eagles vs. Rio Hondo Prep Kares

The Brentwood School Eagles will be playing at home against the Rio Hondo Prep Kares at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Brentwood School had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 44-0 win over Campbell Hall. Given Brentwood School's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 277th, while Campbell Hall is ranked 839th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Boone Lourd continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 177 yards and four touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Lourd is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jake Cabral, who rushed for 66 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.

Meanwhile, Rio Hondo Prep put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They claimed a resounding 35-7 victory over Viewpoint on the road. With Rio Hondo Prep ahead 28-7 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Rio Hondo Prep relied on the efforts of Nate Curtis, who picked up 117 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Alex Mustain, who threw for 160 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 passes.

Their wins bumped Brentwood School to 6-2 and Rio Hondo Prep to 8-0.

Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as both teams haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Brentwood School commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 4.8 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Rio Hondo Prep struggles in that department as they've been even better at 5.5 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.

Everything went Brentwood School's way against Rio Hondo Prep in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as Brentwood School made off with a 32-7 win. Will Brentwood School repeat their success, or does Rio Hondo Prep have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
