Basketball Game Preview: Merino Rams vs. Otis Bulldogs

The Merino Rams will face off against the Otis Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Merino might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 52-41 to Stratton, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Otis waltzed into their contest on Monday with 11 straight wins... but they left with 12. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Longhorns 74-43. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Longhorns are ranked 284th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Otis' victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points over those games. As for Merino, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Merino skirted past Otis 50-48 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Merino since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
