Recap: San Angelo Central Bobcats vs. Midland Legacy Rebels
The San Angelo Central Bobcats''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 66-24 loss at the hands of Midland Legacy. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for San Angelo Central in their matchups with Midland Legacy: they've now lost four in a row.
When it comes to explaining why San Angelo Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Christian English. Despite the final result, he threw for 266 yards and a touchdown, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. English is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last five games he's played.
Damien Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Midland Legacy, rushing for 186 yards and five touchdowns. Jaden Rogers was another key contributor, rushing for 132 yards and a touchdown.
San Angelo Central's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-0 Midland and 5-3 Shoemaker (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 68.8% over those games). As for Midland Legacy, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
San Angelo Central will head out on the road to face off against Permian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Permian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 159 points over their last four contests. As for Midland Legacy, they will be playing at home against Midland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Midland is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
