Basketball Game Preview: Kosciusko Whippets vs. Houston Hilltoppers

Kosciusko has gone 10-0 against Houston recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Kosciusko Whippets will face off against the Houston Hilltoppers at 5:30 p.m. Kosciusko will be looking to extend their current 14-game winning streak.

Last Thursday, Kosciusko strolled past Houston with points to spare, taking the game 69-53. Given the Whippets' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while the Hilltoppers are ranked 163rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cory Guyton Jr continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 19 points along with five assists and four steals. The contest was his third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ryan Tillman, who posted 13 points and five steals.

Kosciusko smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 27 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Kosciusko's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points per game. As for Houston, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 12-16 record.
