Basketball Recap: Brookhaven Academy Comes Up Short

Fans were treated to a battle of the Cougars on Friday. Brookhaven Academy took a blow against Simpson Academy, falling 71-40. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Brookhaven Academy has suffered since December 6, 2025.

Brookhaven Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anne Rylea Thurman, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Swayze Poole, who scored eight points and five boards.

Brookhaven Academy's loss dropped their record down to 19-8. As for Simpson Academy, their victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-3.

Looking ahead, Brookhaven Academy will welcome Cathedral at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Simpson Academy, they will head out to square off against Parklane Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
