Basketball Recap: Jayce Medlin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ware Shoals over Great Falls

If Ware Shoals was riding high fresh off their 97-74 takedown of Thornwell last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Ware Shoals Hornets lost to the Great Falls Red Devils on the road by a 64-47 margin on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 256th, while the Red Devils are ranked 96th).

Several Hornets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jayce Medlin, who posted 14 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Medlin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in each of the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jace Stewart, who scored 17 points and six rebounds.

Ware Shoals has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 11-15 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points over those games. As for Great Falls, they pushed their record up to 17-4 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

As of now, neither Ware Shoals nor Great Falls have any future games scheduled.
